(Barnes, Jonathan M, p. 8) Basically, the national curriculum is divided into 4 key stages based on the students’ age and educational attainment. As soon as the child reaches the age of 3 years, he or she is required to go through an early learning program. Specifically the National Curriculum for students between the age of nine to eleven, or the Key Stage 2, is designed to allow the primary school teachers to be guided on the learning topics they need to teach the students. (ACCAC, 2002). At the end of Key Stage 2, these students are required to participate in the national test and teacher assessment in English, Math and Science. The tests must focus on the range of KS2 levels. (ACCAC, 2004, p. 34) The emphasis now being cross-curricular approach, the teacher must critically analyze well in advance its benefits in the learning and teaching of Key Stage 2 (KS2) students. It is very important for the teacher to assess and examine the purpose behind the promotion of cross-curricular approach in strengthening the learning and teaching techniques for KS2 students because this is the year when children start getting acquainted with the three R’s. (ACCAC, 2002, p. 4) Additionally, the Curriculum highlights the need to focus on skills along with knowledge content so that the child gets maximum exposure to application of knowledge wherever possible. Learning material in both English and Welsh languages must be appropriately complemented and available to ensure language barriers do not obstruct students and teachers’ requirements. World civilization - Research Paper Example the influence these explorers were having on the locals through Christianity was great and the Tokugawa administration saw it as a threat (Nakamura 186). The administration decided to expel and terminate Christianity. This stopped the foreigners from entering Tokugawa territory. This being the case, the outsiders were locked outside of Japan for nearly two hundred years (Nakamura 186). However, the rise of Meiji marked the end of Tokugawa era and hence brought a new dimension on welcoming the westerners in Japan (Nakamura 196). The modernization in Japan, or rather westernization was marked by the start of Meiji era (Nakamura 196). The Meiji era inherited a stable economic and peaceful government from Tokugawa reign and this made it easier for the young leader to open the early modern Japan to the west with its influence. The agriculture was flourishing and the reason for modernizing was not economically oriented. The reign of Meiji led to modernization by converting the country from a feudal nation into an ultra-modern westernized state (Nakamura 196). However, the country modernized on its own terms because it was already developed. The primary reason Japan wanted to modernize was to shield itself from the West taking it over. Japan wanted to be like the Western countries and colonize other Asian countries (Nakamura 196). Precisely, Japan colonized Korea. Japan also longed to modernize so that it can create allies with the US. The US was looking for economic alliance with Asian countries and Japan was strategic. So Japan quickly seized the opportunity. Japan also wanted to expand scientifically and needed countries to corporate in this area (Nakamura 196). It is for this area that it opened its arms the world and fast tracked modernization. Today Japan work closely with the US aerospace exploration agency called NASA. Civilization depends on the repression of instincts. How would Kant Essay

Civilization depends on the repression of instincts. How would Kant and Nietzsche respond to this statement - Essay Example The first ideal denotes the Kantian epitome of a republican civilization, while the other culture is categorized by Nietzsche’s Dionysian concept of confusion. The main variation amid these two kinds of cultures stems from the role of the individual in their organizations, which opens the way for the debate on ethical philosophy and its connection with consideration of the normal world (Owen) (Bennett) (sapere-aude). It is evident that Civilization comes as a result of human interaction with nature, administering it to work to his advantage. This stages the fact that humans are in constant trial to look for ways to ease our mandatory tasks in the environment. The process however involves gradual change of simple systems in place, to a more societal complex system. With a complex system in place, more ideas emerge to even simplify the complexity and thereby additional developments come in handy. This illustrates that civilization is a continuous process. This paper talks on the sway of the moral philosophies discipline of Kant and Nietzsche, which is inspired by their dogmatic thoughts. The discussion is divided into two chapters to deal with the subject. The first section examines the concept of knowledge centered on classical understanding of the disciplines and metaphysics. This explains that the classical origin of natural sciences in addition to metaphysical inferences regarding the nature of authenticity, which shapes Kant’s work (Nietzsche 90). Section two replicates Nietzsche’s probe concerning the significance of morality grounded in metaphysics and conventional science. This study opposes that Nietzsche’s designs, in relation to the fact that civilization is subject to the domination of instincts, are symptomatic of his reflections through representational world-view which he replicates in an imaginative expression. Kant was popular for his proclivity to reason and possession of a logical command. This explains the fusion of natural and

Catholic Wedding Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Catholic Wedding - Essay Example According to the study being considered the oldest Catholic Church in Victoria, St. Francis’ Church humbly stands as an example of grandeur. It has a simple faà §ade but its structure alone overwhelms visitors from all walks of life. When one enters this solemn edifice, any person would be struck by the intricate design and the colorful mosaic of glass etching with vivid illustrations of the first family and saints where the Blessed Sacrament is enthroned. The altar is viewed in simplicity with the crucifix void of designs exemplifying the life that Jesus lived. The rationale might be to prevent churchgoers into being distracted by elaborate designs and colors. It is strategically located at a corner lot for easy accessibility. From this paper it is clear that the ritual identified here is the order of the marriage ceremony including the symbols used. It was fortunate to be accorded the opportunity to observe a wedding of couples who appear to be of Asian descent probably from the Philippines. The St. Francis Church is home to the Filipino community where a special mass schedule has been earmarked every second Sunday of each month at precisely 2:30pm. The groom wore a traditional Filipino â€Å"barong Tagalog†, made from a cloth known as the jusi fabric woven from banana or abacca plants. He stood on the altar patiently waiting for his bride.

Current Events Summary Article Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

Current Events Summary - Article Example The API reported a fall in gasoline and distillates supplies. In the weekly supply data reports of the Energy Information Administration of the Energy Department, some analysts predict that record crude inventories will weigh on oil prices, as low demand persists in developed countries. In the fourth quarter, National Australia Bank (NAB) lowered its crude prices’ forecast from 84 dollars a barrel to an average of 82 dollars. The bank reports that world oil production remains robust, even as growth in the demand in crude oil continues to fade in many developed economies, a situation that has continuously created abundant global supply of oil, particularly in countries where economic activity is still most languid. In another Nymex trading in contracts for October 2010, at 2.121 dollars, heating oil was down 0.76 cent a gallon while gasoline dropped 0.97 cents to 1.959 dollars a gallon. For every 1,000 cubic feet, natural gas dropped 1.4 cents to 3.952 dollars. Additionally, on the ICE Futures exchange, Brent crude dropped 43 cents to 78.84 dollars a barrel in London. The author of this article demonstrates a wavering of oil prices in a relatively tight range. I concur with him that world oil production remains robust despite the fact that growth in the demand for crude oil continues to languish in many developed economies. The article therefore accounts for the constant surplus in oil supply globally. In my view, Kennedy has succeeded in making explicit the factors behind the fall in oil

The minority tribes of the Eskimos and the Pacific have amounted to 10 people, and this contributed to a percentage of 0.03% (Statistical abstract of the United States, 25). The reason as to why the Whites and the Hispanic are the majority in these cities is because they assimilated the minority groups of the Eskimos, the Pacific’s and the Black Americans. The Eskimos and Pacific’s are small in number; this makes them vulnerable to the dominant tribes of the Hispanics and the Caucasians. The Hispanics and the Caucasians intermarried with them, and because of their dominance, they were able to assimilate these groups. This led to the increase of the Hispanics in the St Juan city, and the increase of the whites at the city of St. jo. Intermarriage is an
