The Poor and the Rich Essays
The Poor and the Rich Essays The Poor and the Rich Essay The Poor and the Rich Essay Name: Instructor: Course: Date: The Poor and the Rich The book ââ¬Å"Nickel and Dimedâ⬠was written by Barbara Ehrenreich from a real life experience as an undercover journalist who decided to investigate the impacts of the 1996 welfare reform Act on the working class in the United States. In contrast, much of Barbaraââ¬â¢s ideas in this book revolve around the societal aspects. The dominant themes include working class mentality, poverty as well as the ivied between the rich and the poor. Barbara draws out her experiences from working casual jobs in Florida, Maine up to Minnesota to come up with first-hand stories of the real conditions that most wage workers go through in America. Barbara starts her quest to discover the wageworker livelihood in Key West, Florida where she worked as a waiter in a diner-style restaurant. She also got a rental trailer to live in. Soon, she discovered that the salary at the restaurant could support her rent pushing her into taking a second job as a hotel house cleaner. The workload became too much to handle forcing her to quit the hotel job just as fast as she had taken it but things became unbearable even at the diner, forcing her to quit her second job before the month was over. She then moved to Portland in Maine where she again took up a job as a house cleaner but now with a residential housekeeping service. Her experiences at making ends meet in Florida prompted her to take another job as a dietary aide in a nursing home. Here, Barbara worked all the days of the week, draining her physically and paying her peanuts. Lastly, she moved to Minnesota to work in Wal-Mart but again faced the challenge of getting affordable, good re ntal houses. The Personal responsibility Act of 1996 was expected to boost employment among the jobless as well as giving federal cash assistance to the poor. It was intended to end welfare and support struggling citizens in their attempts at seeking jobs. Class awareness in America is mainly defined by the income brackets of the citizens. Such criteria create the lower, middle and rich class. The promotion or demotion from one class to another depends on many factors but a dominant one is the obtaining of necessary skills to perform important work. In the process, one achieves a substantial income as well as influence that place them in a higher class than before. The class divisions result in class cultures. These are clearly displayed in the way different social classes run their businesses, educate their children culminating in even their choices of places of residences. A good example is the lower class live in the projects, which are in reality, government subsidized houses, or in very inha bitable conditions. Houses do not meet health and security in addition to other state standards. The middle class can afford to live in urban apartments, which have proper housing while the rich class possesses huge villas that occupy large tracts of land and access to public goods. (Ehrenreich 87) Belonging to a certain social class in America especially in the mid 1970ââ¬â¢s had many consequences. The rich, upper class consisted mostly of wealthy families earning over $250,000 who owned most of the corporate America while exercising indirect power through the investment of capital. Most of the upper class also had inherited privileges .In addition, this class was the best compensated as compared to the three. The middle class consisted mainly of high-salaried workers who went to prominent universities and earned from around $40,000 to $180,000 or thereabout. Lastly, the lower class consisted of jobless or low wage earning workers who took home the least incomes of up to $7 a day. These class differentiations in America set the main theme in the Nickel and Dimed. Barbara Ehrenreich attempts, largely, to illustrate the similarities and differences between classes. During her time experiencing different jobs, she describes her findings satisfactorily enough to describe the state of affairs in the labor sector as well as the class differences in America. Barbara brings out the differences between the lower class and the upper class by illustrating the housing problem in America. She talks of dwindling housing opportunities especially for low-income workers as inevitable. The rising rent rates only served to worsen the situation, as the rise in pay was not as steep. The managers of many firms, who were mostly upper class, intentionally used various methods to keep wages low while lowering the dignity of their workers to keep them coming back. Barbara also described how the lower class had little privileges as opposed to many disadvantages therefore making it hard for them to progress along their careers or business ventures. Where she worked, the lower class had very few options, little education and transport problems, all of which served to entrench their position at the bottom of the food chain. This is opposed to the rich categories that have access to business information alongside capital to grow financially. They also have access to the best state services like sanitation, transport amid other public amenities. (Ehrenreich, Bait and Switch 87) Within the world today, the divide between the rich, upper class in relation to the lower class continues to grow. Globally, the class divide has distinguished the Western countries, which continue to live comfortable lives from the Southern countries that continue to languish in poverty, diseases and poor leadership. The promise to eradicate poverty by the state through the Welfare Act is just one of the many promises that are made by the government even today. However, it is clear that the interests of the poor, lower class plus the lower middle class are not really the priority of the government or any other body for that matter. In conclusion, the ââ¬Å"state of emergencyââ¬â¢ suggested by Barbara has finally come into realization in the 21st century. Ehrenreich, Barbara. Media, marketing and advertisment Research Paper
Media, marketing and advertisment - Research Paper Example This is more compounded in the fact that marketers have increasingly stated that with advancement in advertising, the level of copying by target audience or consumers need to be scrutinized. This is given that some pundits have constantly argued that consumers tend to be inexperienced with technology (AMS 2011). It is increasingly clear that a consumer in the modern world is exposed to a number of choices emanating from adverts and marketing. This comes with a number of dimensions as we live in a postmodern world and attempt at building a culture of consumers being the driver of decisions and processes that manufacturers and distributors engage in. Postmodernism as an age and a phenomenon had increasingly bore the greatest responsibility as far as consumerism is concerned. In the United Kingdom for instance, a number of departmental stores have cropped up in response to consumerism (Hincliffe 2009). Hincliffe (2009) again notes that one of the escalating habits nowadays is that with the arrival of convenience stores, people spend a great deal of their money shopping in supermarkets and the decisions they make have to do with adverts they see in the media, whether mainstream or otherwise. On average in the USA, most people consume 275 pounds of meat which is quite a high margin and this is attributed to advertisement regarding this commodity. Further, according to him, there is an average of one passenger car for every two people in the US, One passenger car for about three people in Europe and one passenger car for 49 people in the developing countries. Overall, the argument that consumer society is driven by choices or that it drives choices as far as consumption of goods and services are concerned must be examined in a number of ways. These should include understanding what consumer society is all about, the features of the Consumer Society, the drivers of Consumer Society as it is today with advertisement and phenomenon e.g. technologies like the internet, and other gadgets used nowadays by people all of which ensure that consumers purchase more and more. This paper focuses on the advertising and promotion within the context of media, taking into account consumerism as a recent phenomenon which has necessitated consumption landscape and other market changes. It focuses on overall view of advertisement and zeroes on the forms of media other than the traditional media technology. Advertising as a Promotion and Marketing tool: Overall View Advertising is considered to be a central part of marketing and distribution mechanism of a variety of goods and by large, creation of choices in a consumer society tod ay. This is more because, it is mostly propagated by the media. Even though advertising is relatively new as a profession, its effects beat those of religion and education in shaping public view and perception. In the United States for instance, the money spent annually on advertisement outsmarts the total public expenditure on natural resources, higher education and police protection combined. Usually if one goes to a departmental store the goods they see displayed are often correlated with adverts they have seen either on billboards, in the media (print and otherwise) and this aids in decision making (Hincliffe 2009). Today, advertising is seen as quite crucial in promoting the Consumer Soci

Jews Self Essay Example for Free
Jews Self Essay Chuck Palahniuk once aptly quoted ââ¬Å"Nothing of me is original. I am a combined effort of everyone Iââ¬â¢ve ever knownâ⬠, but to what extent is this true? Indeed, an individualââ¬â¢s uniqueness may comprise of the exposure to certain people, and expectations, but how much of this shapes our identity? As human beings, our species is engaged in a continuous quest to locate our true sense of self, however our individuality is greatly moulded by our surroundings, which may often hinder the ability to identify who are truly are. Whether it be through the language we speak, the gender specific clothing we are instructed to wear, or the social standards and morals we are expected to maintain, it is undeniable that our surroundings are a significant determinant, acting as barrier in regards to flourishing into the person we desire to be. A commonly asked philosophical question is ââ¬Å"what is the purpose of lifeâ⬠, the answer consists of the significance of life, or existence in general and can be easily answered by having a life permeated with purpose; but how may we persevere in this if we cannot truly identify who we are? Throughout our lives, we are often confronted by dilemmas, which impede our ability to locate our true individuality; as a result, our surroundings act as an influential element in regards to the sentiments and identity we attain. Often, Identity is a product of our standing in society, rather than an innate defining factor; set in the apartheid era, Anthony Fabianââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"Skinâ⬠showcases how societies upheld beliefs coerces one to be uncomfortable in their own skin. Sandra Laing, A white girl burdened by having an ââ¬Å"Afrikaansâ⬠exterior, is taught to hate the colour of her skin by a young age, as she is brought into the world at the time of racial segregation between black and white. Sandra is incapable of finding her true self; she is never given a chance to blossom and assimilate into society adequately, as she is alienated as a repercussion of her dark skin colour. Her confidence is dismantled as she is constantly confronted by the discrimination by her surroundings; her opportunity to flourish in the community is immensely diminished as she enters school with students and teachers attaining pre conceived judgement towards her, disallowing her to conquer in her homeland, ââ¬Å"why are they all staringâ⬠. Through the exposure of the prejudice of her surroundings, Sandra further accentuates the hatred of her skin colour as she attempts to bleach her skin in order to be perceived as white. ââ¬Å"Skinâ⬠articulates that through the demining attitudes of others, an individual can be in risk of the incapability of identifying their true identity, as the sentiments of others may alter their self-esteem and opinion of who they are. Sometimes our sense of self is paved for us; sometimes we have no ability to alter our identity as it is concreted by the rules and expectations of society. Our individuality may not be comprised of our own opinions of ourselves, but may be wholly accumulated by our surroundings. Like the Apartheid era Sandra had suffered from, The World War 2 also acted as a barrier in regards to Jewish people truly identifying their true sense of self. Adolf Hitler, the dictator at the time, desired to conquer his overriding objective to exterminate all those who did not fit into his perfect model of the Arian super race (light featured); this resulted in innocent Jewish people being stripped of their freedom, and executed as a result of their religion and physical appearance. Through the burden of Nazism on the Jewsââ¬â¢ behalf, they were not granted an opportunity to blossom in society, due to Hitlerââ¬â¢s ambition of whipping out the Jewish race. Unfortunately, some individuals play no significant role in creating their own identity as their sense of self is set by the judgments of society. Occasionally, it is immensely difficult to negate the expectations placed upon us by others, primarily family members, hence being unable to conquer our destiny. This may be caused by the fear of disappointing those who we love. Unfortunately, I am a victim of not being able to abide by my own expectations, prioritising the rules made by my mother. Throughout my adolescence, my mother has always motivated me to carry on the female legacy of becoming a successful beautician. In order to make my mother content, I have always put on a facade, and obeyed the demands she confronted me with. Being a beautician did not strike me as being successful, as I am consciously aware of my academic abilities, although I fail to expose this. I have learned to put my own satisfaction to the side, and live with an identity in which makes my mother happy, as she acts as an extremely influential element in regards to the decisions I make for myself. Until I am awakened to the disadvantageous attributes accompanying the inability to conquer my own self made expectations, my true sense of self will never be identified, and will be constantly moulded by my families opinions. Although it is hard to avoid considering the sentiments of others, sometimes it is the most effective decision. In order to identify or true sense of self, we must learn to negate the opinions of others, hence enabling us to focus on our own ambitions. This is evident in my uncleââ¬â¢s story he once exposed to me. As he belonged to a gang in his hometown Iraq, his decisions were pre determined by his acquaintances, hence, disabling him to set an identity of his own, as it was concreted by his gang. He had conformed to all the opinions of his crew, until the day he decided to stand up to his own sentiments in which went against his crewââ¬â¢s expectations. As a repercussion of his disobeying, he had suffered a loss of a limb; his crew had no shame of manifesting their inconsistencies with him, as they pulled the trigger, leading to a disabled ex-crew member. Throughout the turmoil and hardship with the crew, my uncle is now a better man, wiser and strong-minded, as he had underwent an identity crisis; he played a minimal part in the formation of his own identity. His true identity was overshadowed by a false persona, dictating his sentiments which were embedded in his mind by fear of standing up to the power of his gang. Sometimes following our own expectations and decisions may be a difficult task, but if we succeed in this, the consequences should not matter as contentment will be found along the journey.

Essay --
My background is a traditional literacy as I started with my research papers with arguments and making a point; and the following years with writing an essay or a term paper and other academic formal papers each week; and finally I have learned the truth that I did not love this activity, but it has taught me how to think in an organized manner. But reading taught me how to be a better writer and the amazing part is that technology contributed a major part to hone my reading and writing skills. I have learned to rely on the Internet for my researches and I knew that I could write creatively, or express my own opinion, in a manner more persuasive than working on it using the traditional literacy methods. Using the computer before was introduced to me as a tool for learning by educational games and computer programs, but as times passed the use of the computer for learning became the available tool for me that have cultivated my love for reading and writing. Blogging is writing which is a fun and great way to encourage creativity without any binding rules for a contemporary student like me that is full of emotions, arguments and ideas that I cannot express in formal academic writing. Integrating new literacy particularly technologically into the classroom is a smart move to implement a positive interaction with much gusto. At first, I thought that this major development would lead to my educationââ¬â¢s trend towards reading and writing even less, but the new approach to literacy keeps me happy and comfortable, and even make me do logical and cohesive writing. Blogging is a useful tool for my inability to think critically and write persuasively. I do believe though that there is value in the traditional as well as the new literacy... ...al literacy might change the way we write and who we interact with. 21st century literacy involves not only reading and writing competency, but also involves technological ability to effectively engage in a technologically advanced world. I have learned to analyze text easily as well as analyzing multimedia such as images, sound and video, and understand how the appearance of print affects my understanding of ideas. My writing has become more concise on the Internet as I have the choice of my writing style such as a blog and regularly communicate with my peers. As I see the different effects of social media on all sectors of society, I also see a more disciplined future social media age and literacy activities by more students being aware of critical thinking in the decisions that they make in blogging or performing other forms of online written communication.

Listo Systems
Listo Systems is a graphic service agency with a long history of success. In the early 1990s, the company quickly grew into one of the top graphic service companies in the world. The rapid growth of technology in recent years has both helped and hindered the company. Advancements in technology have allowed Listo Systems to provide quality services and products faster and more efficiently. However, new technology has also been beneficial for Listo Systemsââ¬â¢ competitors. The competition has grown significantly in number and in the quality of services and products that they provide. The increase in technology has also led to an increase in customer demands and expectations. Customers want services and products faster and cheaper and will go to a competitor without hesitation if their needs are not met. The advancements in technology have also created new threats to the industry in terms of security and theft of products. Answer the following questions by applying the concepts learn ed in Chapter 1. Also, conduct literature reviews on the subject of discussion and use to support your case study answers:How has Listo Systems felt the impact of power shifting from the Seller to the Buyer? Ignorance of customer behavior is the greatest strategic risk facing businesses today. Every day they vote with their time, with their word of mouth, with their money and with their allegiance, for the business designs that best serve their evolving priorities. The results of their shifting decisions are value creation and value destruction. Customers determine profits. In many markets, not all customers are profitable. An examination of true pricing and the true costs of serving customers may reveal that a company is actually losing money on many customer accounts. The shift from ââ¬Å"all customers are profitableâ⬠to ââ¬Å"many are notâ⬠has been triggered by declining gross margins and increasing variability in the cost to serve customers. Suppliers will be reward ed for being much more rigorous in: 1. Measuring current and potential profit customer by customer 2. Selecting the promising customers, and 3. Choosing how much to invest in those customers. Customer profitability is a relative concept. When a firm's capacity utilization is low, even a ââ¬Å"badâ⬠customer is valued because the incremental volume helps to cover fixed costs ââ¬â in the short term. For the long term, however, the fundamental issue remains: either replace the ââ¬Å"badâ⬠customers with good ones, or reduce capacity, or do both. The key to reversing this downward spiral into unprofitability is the ability to continuously re-segment the customer base. A customer profitability system can reverse the process and enable a company to exploit profit shifts to its advantage.By developing an accurate and dynamic model of how profitability varies at the individual customer level, a company can select and develop strategic customers who yield the greatest long-ter m value. The distribution of power between sellers and buyers influences every negotiation or transaction and profoundly influences the allocation of profits and value. Significant power imbalances can translate quickly along the value chain. Several factors can trigger the power shift pattern: 1. Customer consolidation 2.The formation of professional purchasing groups that bring tremendous expertise to the purchasing process 3. An overabundance of information on suppliers' costs and performance 4. Suppliers' lack of differentiation in either the products offered or the business models used to serve customers. When a company's customers have gained the upper hand, there are a few options available: 1. Out-concentrate the customers. If key customers are more consolidated than you, then consolidate back, merging to ensure that customers can't do without your portfolio. 2.Change the offer, change the customer. 3. Leapfrog the customer. Companies can vault past their customers via a str ong end-user brand, direct channel initiatives and innovative strategies to minimize their current customers' response. 4. Become the customer. The most radical move of all is to buy your largest customer. To generate value, make this move just before power starts shifting to customers, not after it has progressed. Purchasing of a distribution channel lets you join rather than fight the rise in customer power. 2. What external environmental factors are affecting Listo Systems?External environment consists of forces that directly or indirectly influence organizationââ¬â¢s business activities. The actors and forces outside marketing that affect managementââ¬â¢s ability to build and maintain successful relationship with target customers. Changes are often quick and unpredictable and offers both opportunities and threats Company must use its research and marketing intelligence systems to monitor the changing environment. Systematic environmental scanning helps Listo System to revi se and adapt business strategies to meet new challenges and opportunities in the marketplace.Technology can reduce costs, improve quality and lead to innovation. These developments can benefit consumers as well as the organizations providing the products. Every company faces a wide range of competitors and Listo System is also not apart from this fact. Listo System must secure a strategic advantage over competitors by positioning their offerings to be successful in the marketplace. A PESTLE analysis for Listo must consider all the important external factors impacting on the company. These factors may have political, economic, sociological, technological, legal or environmental dimensions. The political analysis must include the impact of local and national government, and the international situation. The Economic analysis needs to investigate the influences of the stock market and tax increases, amongst many other monetary matters. Sociological analysis is all about analyzing the bac kground culture. Technological factors are usually easier to spot, because new technologies involve change, and change is always noticed. For instance, online shopping has had a major impact on Listo's recent success. The change created by technological advances often lead to legal problems, which is why legal analysis is always an important part of a PESTLE analysis. Listo's operations obviously have a significant environmental impact, from fossil fuel use to packaging issues. Reducing the demand on the planet is a challenge for any big company. A PESTLE Analysis for Listo must look at all the six factors we have mentioned. Here they are again, with examples of each: Political: an increase in unemployment due to a downward turn in the world economy.Economic: impact on sales of the credit crunch. Sociological: an increase in immigration from Eastern Europe resulting in a demand for new goods. Technological: how can Listo take full advantage of the World Wide Web? Legal: how can Listo avoid legal opposition to expanding into new high streets? Environmental: ââ¬â climate change is affecting supply and transport, how can Listo adapt? In summary, any PESTLE Analysis for Listo must consider all external factors if it has any hope of capturing the essence of the company. Different Propaganda Means in World War II Essay
1. Introduction a) General Background We know that propaganda used in war had effects on the outcome of the war from GCSE Modern World History second edition that propaganda means used in war had contributed to the war efforts which directly affected the outcome of the war. Many propaganda means such as movies and songs flourished during this era and even until today. b) Rationale of Research Our paper aims to show how the propaganda means helped to contribute to the war effort by ââ¬Å"blindingâ⬠the civilians from facts, so that they would continue to support the government in their war efforts and not lose poise in the war. The sources that we have selected were produced and used at the period of war and thus are eligible as a primary source. c) Research Questions * How does propaganda affect the outcome of war? * How effectual is each different mean of propaganda? d) Scope of Research We will only be looking at the 4 different means of propaganda stated: o Chaplinââ¬â¢s (1940) movie- ââ¬Å"The Great Dictatorâ⬠o Almanac Singerââ¬â¢s (1942) song- ââ¬Å"Round and Round Hitlerââ¬â¢s Graveâ⬠o Clampettââ¬â¢s (1942) cartoon- ââ¬Å"Any Bonds Todayâ⬠o Smithââ¬â¢s (1942) propaganda poster about war bonds We will also bring in historical knowledge that we obtained from the books and websites indicated in the bibliographical section. e) Limitations of Research Our paper will only discuss how propaganda is effective in the primary sources that we will be using. We will only mention how effective each of these sources are, bringing in historical background to support our view. Our paper will only be discussing on these specific sources mentioned and not propaganda as a whole broad topic. 2. Literature Review Chaplinââ¬â¢s and Clampettââ¬â¢s movies plus Almanac Singersââ¬â¢ song criticised the Axis Powers. They were anti-Nazi Propaganda and were efficient in spreading propaganda. Clampettââ¬â¢s cartoons and Smithââ¬â¢s poster appealed to the Americans to support the war through buying war bonds. Chaplinââ¬â¢s movie shows that Hitler is uncivilized, as seen in a cake fight whilst discussing war issues with Italy-an ally. Clampettââ¬â¢s cartoon shows that the Axis Powers were uncooperative when they stepped on the ââ¬ËDove of Peaceââ¬â¢. Almanac Singerââ¬â¢s song lyrics (Appendix 2) was insulting, ââ¬Å"Wished I had old Hitler /with a rope around his neckâ⬠and continues about dancing round Hitlerââ¬â¢s grave. The first movie was produced to ridicule Hitler with very little purpose except for a speech (Appendix 3) because America was still a neutral country during 1940, but in Europe war had commenced. All resources made use of either audio or visual. It was the era whereby poems were no longer effectual and popular means of expression. Hence, propaganda was conveyed in posters, songs aired on radio and movies in theatres worldwide. Audio and visual aids provided a lucid picture of happenings and task definition enabling the government to easily persuade the people to do their biddings. The movies were directed by famous people (such as Warner Brothers, Charles Chaplin), whom civilians thought were trust-worthy and thus easily swayed. Moreover, most propaganda accentuates the importance of war bonds in the War. Bugs Bunny in ââ¬Å"Any Bonds Todayâ⬠(Appendix 6) was saying that without the bonds, we ââ¬Ëcanââ¬â¢t make tomorrowââ¬â¢s planââ¬â¢, which is to win the war. Even in this song there is a propaganda poster (Appendix 5) on war, patriotism and to procure war bonds (Appendix 4). Smithââ¬â¢s poster was specifically on war bonds but just in a different form. The poster illustrates the repercussions without war bonds and shows a Nazi shadow cast over children. Therefore, buying bonds will safeguard them from the Axis. Patriotism resulted in exceedingly successful recruitment and maintenance of peace in the country. Patriotism prevented war at home while combating enemies. It was evoked through a poster signifying victory (Appendix 5), shown as the backdrop of Clampettââ¬â¢s movie and also through criticising and making Axis Powers look inferior. Hence, Allies gain confidence. Not all movies were totally censored by the government and thus contained more truths. However, animated cartoons were still successful. The audience were predominantly children and upon listening to the catchy tunes and vivid pictures, persuade their parents into buying bonds for their well-being. The success of war propaganda for bonds reaped 185 billion dollars ââ¬â enabling the vast expansion of arms. Chaplinââ¬â¢s speech gave Germany hope that ââ¬Ëwhen dictators die, liberty will return to the peopleââ¬â¢; this helped alleviate tension in Europe. The song (Appendix 2) was performed by a band formed by the government for propaganda purposes. Their songs were highly popular at that era and helped stir patriotism in the Americans. All the propaganda, even if not asking to acquire war bonds, was useful in convincing the people that the Axis were inferior to the Allies. 3. Research Methodology We have evaluated the germane resources that we can access and selected four sources that we will be using in our paper. These sources are primary sources as they were produced and released during World War II. After the selection of the resources, we analysed each of the sources individually to detect the characteristics of each source. We also accessed the impact they had at that time derived from historical knowledge. We then look at criticsââ¬â¢ standpoint of these sources and found out that reviews and critics on these sources were scarce and extraneous to our paper and we decided to prohibit these critics, as most did not have any relevance to our paper. Subsequently, we look at all the sources and list down their similarities and differences from the examination of each source. 4. Results & Analysis All the sources that we have used proved to be valuable in showing us the influence these propaganda tools may even have on us. These sources were used by the Allies to convince the civilians that the Axis Powers are the ââ¬Å"unscrupulous guysâ⬠and they are to remove these threats. Chaplinââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"The Great Dictatorâ⬠and Almanac Singersââ¬â¢ ââ¬Å"Round and Round Hitlerââ¬â¢s Graveâ⬠were aimed at Hitler and the purpose of the movie was to destroy Hitlerââ¬â¢s reputation. These sources ridicule Hitler and persuaded the people to despise and condemn him. Clampettââ¬â¢s cartoons and Smithââ¬â¢s poster applied more to the persuasion of the civilians to buy war bonds to help to lighten the burden the economy have to take. These sources use patriotism to persuade the civilians to help to buy war bonds. 5. Conclusion a. Has our research proved our hypothesis correct / wrong? Our research has proven our hypothesis correct. Our research had shown that propaganda helped to collect the necessary resources needed for war, which is money and manpower. In World War II, propaganda means had evolved into sophisticated structure where many factors are included. Propaganda became an essential tool that would be necessary in war, as it would help the government to haul support from the civilians in order to get enough resources for war. b. Questions for further research 1) Why did poems lose popularity as a form of propaganda means in World War 2? 2) How did movies gain popularity as propaganda means in the war? 3) Why were Audio Aids more effective than Audio-Visual Aids in the war as a propaganda tool? 6. Free Essays on Love Versus Money
Love versus money. People meet each other, fall in love with each other and than marry. This chain of events used to be true some time ago. Meanwhile nowadays other possible reason for marriage like money appears. So the dilemma of whether to marry for money or not appears in the life of almost every young person. For me it is absolutely clear that marriage for love is better. First reason for that is psychological and physical health. When people are in love they understand themselves convenient with each other. If person knows that someone cares about misses him/her even after several hours break it makes that person feel himself calm. So, such human being experiences fewer stresses what positively effects as psychological as physical health. Second reason for marriage for love is degradation of personality. It is clear that only people with bad financial situation marry for money. After such marriage is completed that personââ¬â¢s self-esteem probably might be decreasing every day. The attitude of friends and family members can also be changed. Humiliation from the partner is also usual in such cases. In sum all these factors can lead to the degradation of person who marries for money. That is why it is more advantageous to marry for love. The third argument for love marriage is the destiny of future children. It is proven that childrenââ¬â¢s characters are formed on observation of parentsââ¬â¢ behavior. In the family where parents love each other and as a result behave themselves properly according to the commonly accepted standards children usually feel themselves convenient and grow into normally developed personalities. Kids who do not see the love between their parents think that it is normal way of behavior and their further attitude to the opposite sex is different. In conclusion I can say that marriage for love is much better than one for money because it leads physical and psychological health, does not lead to degradation of... The Shakespearean Theatre Term Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words
The Shakespearean Theatre - Term Paper Example These theatre companies had their own permanent cast of actors. These actors used to perform different plays on in a weekly cycle. Those theatrical companies were dependent on their audiences to gather funds for the continued existence of the theatres and plays. Shakespeare associated himself with the cityââ¬â¢s most known theatrical company known as The Lord Chamberlainââ¬â¢s Man in London. He remained associated with the place from 1594 till rest of his life. By 1594, the theater had played six of the most famous plays by him. He was an official playwright and an actor for the theatre. During Shakespeareââ¬â¢s time, there were two monarchs who ruled over the land of England; King Henry (VIII) and Queen Elizabeth (I). Both of the monarchs keenly appreciated the plays produced by Shakespeare. Their personal affiliation with Shakespeare helped him gain new heights of popularity among the masses. During mid-sixteenth century, English theater was faced by grave situation. Those theatres were hardly organized and contributed very little towards the professional growth of an artist. It is unfair to recognize those theaters as artistic institutions. Usually, the artists used to perform in groups anywhere; sometimes in courtyards or sometimes in the grand halls of noble houses. The plays they performed merely had any theme. They were either bawdy interludes, unsophisticated tragedies or sometimes lacked the refined humor (Janette Dillon). However, time changed by the beginning of seventeenth century when theater became the life of London city. Lord Chamberlainââ¬â¢s Men was one the most reputable commercial theatrical company which boasted the career of William Shakespeare not only as an actor but also as a prominent playwright and a shareholder. Shakespeare earned a huge name from the platform of The Chamberlainââ¬â¢s Men which was later changed as the Kingââ¬â¢s Men in 1603 during the rule of James I. The actors including Shakespeare used to present most of their
